Of all the great vacations I have been on in my life, none have compared to the Caribbean cruise I got to enjoy with my parents, siblings, husband and children just a few years ago.  I'll admit that I wasn't too excited about the idea of going on a Caribbean cruise when my parents first bought all of us tickets for Christmas that year. The idea of being confined on a huge boat for ten days just didn't excite me. I naively expected to be seasick and board for the entire trip and find myself wishing I were anywhere but on that Caribbean cruise.
Fortunately, my preconceptions were totally wrong. While it did take a few hours to get used to the constant motion of the boat, I no one actually got seasick during the entire trip. And I was the furthest from bored that I have perhaps ever been. The Caribbean cruise was filled with more activities than a person or family could enjoy during the ten days. Each person in our party of nineteen people was more than satisfied with the activites and options for enjoying the Caribbean cruise.
One of the greatest things about the Caribbean cruise was that it offered activites, foods and entertainment for literally all ages of guests. My elementary school aged children loved it just as much as my parents who were in their late sixties. The children enjoyed the many swimming pools and organized activities that happened throughout each day. The Caribbean cruise offered miniature golf, sports competitions of all kinds, art classes, and great kids movies at night. For the adults, the Caribbean cruise offered a workout center, many fitness classes, dancing lessons of all kinds, gambling and live entertainment in the evenings.
My fears of being trapped on the boat for ten days straight were relieved each of the four times our Caribbean cruise ported at a different island or beach in the Caribbean. We were able to get off the ship each day and enjoy a full day of exploring the area or doing fun activities like snorkeling or scuba diving in the ocean near where we ported. Of course, there was always the option of staying on the ship during these port days as well. I was simply amazed at the variety that the Caribbean cruise offered. I felt like a family could return on a Caribbean cruise several times before enjoying everything that was made available to them.
A final thing that blew my mind about our Caribbean cruise was the service we received. Our rooms were kept immaculately and we were served the most amazing food I have ever eaten. We were well taken care of from morning to night.
I'd encourage almost anyone I know to enjoy a Caribbean cruise for their next vacation. It was one of the most surprising and fulfilling trips I have ever taken.

Keep your dream vacation from turning into anything but. When you're going on a cruise, whether it's a family vacation, a honeymoon, or just some time away, use a little common sense to keep yourself and your valuables safe.
Victims of theft aboard cruise ships can run into yards and yards of red tape attempting to prosecute the responsible parties. First of all, most cruise ships require attendees to sign a waiver, keeping the cruise line from being held liable for crimes that occur on board. Secondly, many cruise ships are registered in foreign countries, while passengers (including the criminals) are from various locales. Meanwhile, the ship is sailing in water owned by still another jurisdiction. This often puts the area of responsibility into, well, murky waters. Finally, once passengers leave the cruise ship, it is virtually impossible to trace your stolen belongings. Where they end up is anyone's guess.
So, be smart. Stay safe, and follow some simple rules to keep theft from occurring in the first place.
Keep good records. Before you leave home, make an inventoried list (photographs are helpful) of everything you have with you, and keep it someplace safe. Record credit card and bank account numbers, and leave the list at home. Do bring along a list of phone numbers to all of your financial institutions (and a phone card if necessary) in case a credit card disappears; that way you'll be able to report the loss while still on board and avoid any fraudulent use. Most importantly, if you don't need something, then don't take it with you. The less you have to worry about, the easier it is to keep track of everything you're carrying.
Simply putting a suitcase under the bed in your cabin is no defense against a determined thief. On many cruise ships, the door locks are changed less often than those at a hotel, and your room may not be as secure of a place as you think. If you can't leave your valuables at home, make use of the ship's safe. Do not carry wallets in back pockets- pickpockets and purse-snatchers are possible anywhere, even on a cruise ship. Consider investing in an under-the-clothing money belt, which keeps your cash safe and provides the added benefit of not allowing you to forget your wallet lying on the table somewhere! Avoid displaying any valuables or cash you have with you, and invest in plain but sturdy luggage that does not draw attention to itself.
It may sound scary, but consider the fact that you take all of these precautions and many more when you venture to a new city and stay at a hotel. A cruise ship is a lot like a floating city, full of people from all walks of life, and a little precaution can help save your valuables. Not to mention your vacation!

Holiday cruises are gaining in popularity, and cruise lines have responded with a wide variety of itineraries to suit every taste. Whether it's a Christmas gift for Mom or a way to escape the hectic rush of December, a cruise provides an excellent value and a perfect chance to spend quality time with the family.
Cruise vacationers don't have to leave their traditional holiday observances at home, either. In addition to special holiday festivities, entertainment and decorations, on-board clergy conduct Catholic, Protestant and Jewish services. Some ships also accommodate Kwanzaa celebrations.
"It's a great time to cruise because the kids are out of school and the grandparents can come along, too," said Gloria Sanderson of Chicago.
Sanderson says cruising over the holidays with three generations of Sandersons has become a new family tradition.
"The important thing is being together," she said. "We still have a big holiday dinner with all the trimmings, but without having to cook and clean up."
A wide selection of holiday cruises ranging from seven to 21 days is available from Holland America Line. Most sailings are in the warm blue waters of the Caribbean, and most of those call at Half Moon Cay, Holland America's private Bahamian island.
Additionally, Holland offers a cruise along the Mexican Riviera and, for the ultimate white Christmas, the line's Amsterdam flagship will spend Christmas with the penguins, visiting Antarctica on December 25.
Holland America's on-board festivities include holiday decorations, special movie showings, traditional dinner selections, religious services and a Christmas show by the crew on Christmas Eve. The line also arranges to broadcast some college bowl games on board the ship.
"There are facilities and programs for the kids, and plenty of different activities for us and the grandparents," said Doug Sanderson, Gloria's husband. "We can be as active or relaxed as we want, and it's a lot warmer on a cruise than it is in Chicago!"
And if you think that a holiday cruise will break the bank, Holland America has seven-day sailings starting at $899 per person, and even lower promotional prices.

Scuba Diving During a Cruise Vacation

Scuba Diving During a Cruise Vacation

Coastal Vacations

Word Count:
755
Summary:
Options for certified scuba divers who wish to go scuba diving during a cruise vacation.

Keywords:
cruise, ship, ships, vacation, scuba, diving, dive, divers, ports, excursions, caribbean

Article Body:
Say you want to scuba dive but your significant other is not a diver and would rather do other activities like shopping.  If you both decided to go on a Caribbean cruise vacation, is it still possible for you to go scuba diving?  The answer is yes.  This will be a big relief to all certified scuba divers who are going on cruises with itineraries that include such great scuba dive destinations as Cozumel and Grand Cayman.  After all, as certified scuba divers, it would be a shame to go to these ports and not dive.
Many cruise ships offer scuba diving as part of their available shore excursions.  Some ships even have small dive centers on board for those who want to take introductory sessions in the ship pools.  These cruise lines will often have business contracts with local dive operators at each port that has scuba diving.  These local dive operators will take certified scuba divers on boat trips on behalf of the cruise lines.  Booking and payment will be through the cruise ships rather than the local dive operators.  The cruise lines claim that if for any reason the scuba trips run late, the cruise ships will not leave port until all passengers from these cruise ship organized excursions are back on board.  They won’t wait around for passengers who decide to take their own excursions not booked through the cruise ship.  This is how the cruise ships try to convince divers to take their excursions even if the cost is usually at a premium compared to what local dive operators would normally charge directly.
Another way to get some scuba diving in during a cruise vacation is to make arrangements and book in advance with local scuba dive operators at each port you are interested in diving at.  Although there is always some risk in missing your port departure if your own outing runs late, just make sure you plan your own dive trips so that you are back on the ship well in advance of port departure.  Usually if your cruise ship arrives at port early in the morning, you could book the morning dive trips with the local operator and still have the rest of the afternoon to shop or do other sightseeing.  For later arrivals where you would miss the morning dive trips, it is still possible to take the local operators’ afternoon dive trips but in this case, it is very important to make sure that you confirm what the estimated time of return to the docks are.  If you can return to the docks at least two hours before the cruise ship’s scheduled time of departure, than you will have ample time even if the dive boat returns a bit late.  It it’s only an hour or less, the timing may be too tight.  See if the dive operator has a shorter single tank afternoon trip which might get you back to the docks earlier.
Some local dive operators even have special pick up and drop off services to and from the cruise ship terminals to their dive shops.  These dive businesses are obviously making an effort to take some dive business away from the cruise ship organized excursions.  These particular local dive operators would be ideal if you could find them before your cruise vacation.  Otherwise, you may have to take a local taxi to the dive shop if it is not within walking distance of the cruise ship terminal.  Of course, this is usually not a problem either and even with the added cost of taxis, the overall cost of going with a local dive operator may still be lower than the cruise ship organized dive excursion.
Some cruise ship passengers have successfully gotten on local dive trips without any advance booking.  These divers just walked into a local dive operator once at port.  Although this is certainly feasible, it is not recommended especially in a destination that fills dive trips up quickly.  With the internet, it is quite easy to make arrangements with many local dive operators in advance of your cruise vacation.  Tell them which day your cruise ship will be coming in and the expected time of both arrival as well as departure.  Some ports like Cozumel have more than one cruise ship terminal so it’s important to let them know if possible which one your ship will be docked in.  They will then give you your best options for some scuba diving for that particular day.

Why Take a Royal Caribbean Cruise Vacation? Well, with all the different cruise ships in their line, all the destinations, and the affordable price range, there are cruises to please every traveller, no matter how jaded.
In our fast-paced society, Royal Caribbean offers a very cost-effective and time-efficient way to take a holiday. Think about driving all day through holiday traffic to a far-away destination, packing and unpacking at every hotel, and trying to find restaurants and personal services. On a Royal Caribbean cruise you don’t drive anywhere for weeks at a time. Even on a tour bus , it's you personally who must handle all the luggage and repack at each new destination. On a cruise, your bags arrive with you when you check in and the staff transports them to your cabin, stateroom, or suite. You are at home immediately and don't have to move until the cruise ends. And cruise ship cuisine is legendary in both quantity and quality. Each Royal Caribbean ship has world class restuarants staffed by award-winning chefs, and the cruise price includes the cost of the food. At every port, guided tours are available so you won't miss any of the spectacular attractions. You can take a holiday from parental duties as well, since supervised activities and games are available to keep children occupied. And at the end of your holidy staff will arrive to pick up your luggage and take it to the intended pick-up point. Cruise ship facilities free you from so many of the worries and strain associated with traveling, and allow you to relax and actually enjoy your vacation time.
Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines offers the some of the best deals in the travel industry. Conde Nast Traveler consistently rates Royal Caribbean Cruises as one of the world's best cruise ship lines. Services include informative lectures about your location, upscale boutiques, and Broadway-style entertainment. Some ships even have facilities for ice-skating shows. Try your luck in the Casino or even collect fine art at the onboad auction. Enjoy exotic nightlife at clubs with various themes.
You'll never feel neglected at the onboard spa. Try a deluxe manicure and pedicure, a luxurious facial or even a relaxing massage. You'll leave glowing and invigorated.
But Royal Caribbean isn't just for the adult traveller. Royal Caribbean features an Adventure Ocean Youth Program and Fisher-Price Aqua Babies and Aqua Tots to occupy younger passengers. When the ship reaches port, adults have the opportunity to take cultural tours by themselves without hauling along bored and unwilling children . And the the younger set can enjoy vigorous, noisy activities such as a rock-climbing wall without wearing out the parents. One ship under construction, Freedom of the Seas, is being equipped with onboard surfing!
Age or disability do not hamper cruising. Modern cruise ships are specifically designed to accommodate the needs of aged and mobility-impaired passengers, and staff is always ready to help with the special medical needs of passengers. Nowadays most major cruise lines accommodates those who require dialysis or supplemental oxygen, and more medical services are available if requested beforehand. An emergency clinic with CPR equipment is available on each ship, saving you the trouble of finding an English-speaking doctor in a foreign country.
Dinner is a major form of entertainment on a cruise ship, a practice dating back more than a hundred years to the era when cruises were for nobility and the wealthy who expected elegant formal meals. With today's laid-back lifestyle the old-fashioned elegance is optional, and for those who enjoy casual dining, meals can be obtained around the clock from room service and cafeterias. However, what is a cruise without glamour? It can be a lot of fun to go to a ritzy event where ladies show off their best attire and jewelry, and gentlemen wear tuxedos.
And don't forget the cruise destination itself! Royal Caribbean docks at a different port of call every few days, depending upon distances and sailing time between local ports. Aside from the caribbean, these ships sail all around the world, to Hawaii, Mexico, the Panama Canal, New England, Alaska and many European ports. It's up to you whether you want to explore onshore or lounge aboard the ship all day. You are free to investigate each destination on your itinerary as long as you arrive back at the dock in time for departure.
Optional activities are offered for a slight extra cost, and Royal Caribbean offers adventures geared toward the unique features of every destination. There are cruisetours, a combination land/sea package to further explore inland in Alaska, the Canadian Rockies, Whistler Resort and Europe.
With all these pleasing and unique services available at such affordable prices, why not think about a Royal Caribbean Cruise for your next sea vacation?

Glamorous, elegant, family-friendly and fun are what come to mind when talking about Royal Caribbean's newest ship: Freedom of the Seas.  Determined to make Freedom the most innovative and adventurous ship of its fleet, Royal Caribbean built Freedom to be the largest passenger ship ever, then added one-of-a-kind features sure to impress.
Let the Adventure Begin
One of the most talked about activities is the Flowrider®.  This exciting surfing ride gives the feeling of hanging ten on a Maui wave, all right from onboard Freedom.  Grab a board and catch a wave.  It's easy to learn and fun to master.
The H20 Zone is another water wonder found exclusively on Freedom.  A dedicated crew mans this water park filled with giant and colorful sculptures, water cannons, fountains, jets, waterfalls, spiral-shaped current pool and more.  For adults and kids alike, the H20 Zone is a blast during the day and a whole new adventure when lit up at night.
While kids usually get special gathering places designated just for them, Royal Caribbean decided to offer a solarium onboard Freedom - just for adults.  Fun and relaxing, the solarium presents a rainforest theme with giant sculptures of tropical birds and palm trees, poolside hammocks, a panoramic view of the ocean and music piped underwater.  While truly special during the day, the solarium is spectacular at night.
A separate sports pool accommodates the adventurous ones in your group.  You'll find traditional favorites such as water volleyball and basketball and some exciting new options including golf and jousting.
For those looking to live life to its fullest, a rock climbing wall, ice skating rink and scuba lessons should provide plenty to do.  If relaxation is your goal, work off your stress in the state-of-the-art fitness center under the watchful eye of your personal trainer.  Then allow yourself to indulge in any of the massages or treatments available in Freedom's full-service spa.

Hailed as the grandest ship at sea, find out how the Queen Mary 2 lives up to royal standards.

Keywords:
Alaska cruises and Hawaii cruises

Article Body:

Just as her predecessor once did, the Queen Mary 2 has taken the world by storm.  Hailed as the grandest ship at sea, the Queen Mary 2 is the largest, longest, tallest, widest and most expensive ocean liner ever built to date, according to Cunard Line.  Without exaggeration, the Queen Mary 2 is truly a wonder worthy of her royal heritage.
Her sheer size is a marvel.  As long as 41 double-decker buses and 147 feet longer than the Eiffel Tower is tall, the Queen Mary 2 boasts 157,000 horsepower and a whistle that can be heard for 10 miles.  She holds 2620 passengers and 1253 crew members.  Width and breadth are but measures.  There are no measures for the magic she holds for those who come aboard.
As you navigate through the Queen Mary 2, you'll notice exquisite touches, including high ceilings, outstanding artwork, and distinctive appointments and color schemes.  The largest ballroom at sea and the largest dance floor afloat are just two of the exclusive and impressive features you'll note during your voyage.
Expand Your Horizons
Among the other amenities are a world-renowned Canyon Ranch SpaClub™ and a state-of-the-art gym outfitted with the most popular exercise equipment available.  Queen Mary 2 also offers unique enrichment programs designed to allow guests to expand their horizons and reach their personal goals.
Those who have always wanted to try their hands at acting can study under instructors from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts while onboard.  Pursue your love of oceanography or attend seminars at the first planetarium at sea.  With book signings, workshops and seminars on a wide range of topics, every passenger will find a world of interesting and imaginative activities to participate in.
Exceptional Accommodations for Every Budget
A choice of accommodations is available from the economical to the enormous.  Spacious inside and outside staterooms are offered, many with balconies.  Larger junior suites and full-sized suites are designed to offer more space by providing tables and chairs and additional square footage.  For those who truly want to travel in style, royal suites, penthouse suites, duplexes and "Queen" suites are also available.
Over three-quarters of the cabins onboard offer balconies and/or decks, along with ocean views, and each exudes a regal décor of light, airy colors.  Many staterooms have a desk, a wardrobe area and a sitting area with sofa, along with a bed.  Each cabin is outfitted with a refrigerator and interactive TV.
World-Class International Cuisine
Food has always been a highlight on Cunard cruise ships, and the Queen Mary 2 is no exception.  Headlined by TV culinary icon Todd English, the cuisine aboard the Queen Mary 2 is simple superlative.  The Mediterranean fare featured at the Todd English restaurant is fully representative of English's world-class Olives of Boston restaurant. English was named one of People magazine's "50 Most Beautiful People" and has also attained accolades as Best Chef and received the Award for Culinary Excellence.
Nine other restaurants are located throughout the Queen Mary 2, including those that boast Asian, Italian and American dishes.  Casual buffets are also readily available for those who prefer less elaborate dining options.  Each afternoon, in typical British fashion, tea is served in an elegant manner with white-glove service.  Featured are a range of freshly brewed teas, along with scones, pastries and finger sandwiches.
Cruising onboard the Queen Mary 2 is no time to count calories.  You'll want to relish in all the delectable meals and desserts available during your voyage.
Family-Friendly
The Play Zone is designed to offer age-appropriate activities for children and teens.  Divided into two sections, children and teenagers can find a brightly colored atmosphere with activities that entertain and inspire them on their levels.
Nanny-equipped, The Play Zone is always supervised to ensure a safe experience for every child and young adult who visits.
Party Like A Princess
When night falls, the G32 club or other bars and pubs are available for those who want to dance 'til dawn. If a high-tech atmosphere, bright lights and loud music aren't for you, other options are available, including a champagne bar.
With outstanding ships, including the Queen Mary 2, there is little wonder that parent company Cunard (a subsidiary of Carnival Corporation) was named the 2005 winner of the “Best Luxury Cruise Line” and “Cruise Line of the Year” by the British Travel Association.
If elegance and pampering are on your agenda, cruising aboard the Queen Mary 2 is simply a must.  The grandest ship at sea won't let you down.

Planning A Cruise Vacation For The Perfect Cruise Experience

Planning A Cruise Vacation For The Perfect Cruise Experience

Summary:
To get the best cruise experience it is necessary to do some planning in advance.  Cruise vacations are perfect for you and your family.  Here are some cruise tips to get the most out of your cruise travel.

Article Body:
Cruise vacations are one of the most exciting and fun vacations you and your family will ever have. Planning your cruise vacation is the key to making the most of the cruise experience.
Cruise ships are floating hotels that sail through ocean while you enjoy all the hotel’s amenities provided. They have casinos, swimming pools, theaters, restaurants, shopping centers or boutiques, spas, gyms and more.
As great as taking a vacation on cruise ships may seem, you still need to know how to plan a cruise ship vacation properly so you have the perfect cruise experience. You need to know about the different types of packages the cruise lines offer.
When planning a cruise ship vacation you need to know how to choose one that will meet your expectation or tailor to your needs. Here are some guidelines that you can follow to plan your cruise travel and enjoy the perfect cruise experience:
Think of who you want to take with you on your cruise vacation. There are many different packages offered by cruise lines. There are packages for the whole family and there are packages for single travelers.
Will you be taking the cruise vacation with children? Maybe you will take your significant other for a romantic getaway. There are cruise ships that are tailored for children and there are cruise lines that cater to single cruisers and honeymooners. There are even some ships that offer wedding services.  What could be better than to get married on the ship and have your honeymoon built in?
Decide how long you want to cruise.  If you just want to try it out, opt for a three day cruise. Normally, cruises start at three nights and can go anywhere from seven to fourteen days. But there are also world cruises that can last as long as three months. My advice is if you are going to cruise in Europe you should pick a fourteen day cruise because of the expense and long plane rides to get to your port of embarkation.  If you live near a port and you just want to take a long weekend choose of three or four day cruise. Decide what cruise travel is best for you.
Choose the perfect destination for you and your family. Alaska is beautiful but can only be cruised in the summer months.  If you live in the colder climes you may want to take a mid winter cruise to the Caribbean or even South America. If you want your cruise travel to be in the Caribbean and you want to spend two weeks on your cruise vacation, choose a line that alternates between the Eastern and Western Caribbean. This cruise vacation takes you to many different islands.
The cruise lines have a variety of destinations to choose from.  Visit your cruise travel agent to go over the different itineraries or check out the individual websites of the cruise lines.
Consider the port of departure.  Since 9/11 cruises have been emphasizing home port cruising.  Now there are many cruises that depart from Bayonne, New Jersey, Galveston, Texas, or Seattle, Washington, not just Miami and Fort Lauderdale..  Depart from the one closest to you and you will save money on expensive airfare.
Speak to a knowledgeable cruise travel agent.  Make sure they have personally sailed on many different cruise ships so they can give you an honest opinion on what each cruise line has to offer and which would give you the perfect cruise experience.
A cruise travel agent will also be able to supply you with cruise tips.  Scour the cruise reviews for additional cruise tips.
Large cruise lines have a variety of activities and facilities that you can use on the ship. If you like to gamble then choosing a cruise ship with casinos is probably right for you.  Or if you are taking your kids with you, a cruise ship that offers activities and facilities for children would be the best choice for your cruise travel.  For instance, Disney is, of course, geared toward children but they do not have casinos.  So if you are taking the family but you want to gamble steer away from Disney and choose one of the other major cruise lines.  Almost all of them have children’s programs.  If you don’t want to be on a ship with children sail on one of the fancier lines that don’t cater to children. Here, again, it pays to read as many cruise reviews as you can to pick up additional cruise tips.
Cruise vacations do not necessarily mean that you have to spend all your vacation time onboard. All the cruise ships offer land and shore excursions. The cruise lines offer pre and post cruise land vacations usually for two or three days.
Land excursions are a great way to explore different cultures and destinations when taking a cruise vacation. You can choose from many activities once you reach a port of call. You can go kayaking, scuba diving or go shopping in the markets of the ports of call.
Following these guidelines will give you some ideas on planning your cruise vacation properly. Proper planning will give you a more exciting cruise experience.
Happy Cruising!

The first step in planning a cruise is to choose the best cruise line and the destination. Study the offerings of the various cruise lines and base your decision on what you really want from the cruise. It is also important to decide the duration of your cruise.
You can choose from any of the world famous cruises such as the panama cruise, Mediterranean cruise, carnival cruise, Caribbean cruise, Europe cruise, Alaska cruise, and Norwegian cruise.
Check with People Who Have Gone On Cruise
Check out with other people who have experience in such cruises and then decide on the cruise line. You should also check the facilities being offered by them and whether these are in consonance with your aspirations. The next step is to check if the cruise that you select operates to the destination that you want to visit.
Booking the Cruise
Having selected the cruise line and the cruise, you should make the booking for the cruise either through a travel agent, or through online sources. You should also select the type of room that you would like to have and book the same with the cruise booking. If you want to avail of shore excursions or other off-ship activities you should also book these early.
A good planning will really stand you in good stead and you can have all the fun in the world on your cruise. A good planning will ensure that you come rejuvenated from the cruise and ready to face the realities of life once again.

Norwegian Cruise Line's Newest Vessel: Pride of Hawaii

Norwegian Cruise Line's Newest Vessel: Pride of Hawaii

Coastal Vacations

Word Count:

Summary:
The Pride of Hawaii has launched!  Norwegian Cruise Line's most luxurious ship yet has fabulous new amenities for you to enjoy.

Keywords:
Norwegian Cruise Line, Norwegian cruises

Article Body:
The newest, and grandest, Norwegian Cruise Line ship is now in service!  The Pride of Hawaii completes Norwegian's plans to bring three new vessels to its fleet by 2006.  With fabulous seven-day itineraries that sail throughout the Hawaiian islands, Pride of Hawaii will depart Honolulu on Mondays and call on ports on Hawaii's four most popular islands: Hawaii, Oahu, Maui & Kauai.
Cruise in Style
What would a grand, new ship be without sterling accommodations?  Norwegian Cruise Line opted to repeat its highly popular and luxurious new category of staterooms - deemed Courtyard Villas - onboard Pride of Hawaii.  Ten cabins share one private courtyard featuring a lap pool, Jacuzzi, his and hers steam rooms and exercise equipment.  Guests staying in the courtyard also enjoy a private sundeck with sun beds and hammocks.  From high above the ship, passengers with courtyard suites will also enjoy breathtaking views.
Norwegian Cruise Line also offers impressive accommodations on two other levels: Garden Villas and an Owner's Suite.  Garden Villas are extravagant 4,000 square foot suites complete with spacious living room, dining room, three separate bedrooms each with a private bath, steam room, individual butler and concierge and - of course - your own private garden.
The Owner's Suite - at the pinnacle of the ship - offers the most luxurious accommodations Norwegian Cruise Line offers.  With unmatched views from high atop Deck 15, guests in the Owner's Suite enjoy a master bedroom with bath, separate living room and dining room, and two private sun terraces outside the living room and bedroom.  Relish in the best amenities while cruising to the most popular Hawaiian destinations.
Pride of Hawaii Visits Most Popular Attractions
Norwegian Cruise Line wanted the itineraries of Pride of Hawaii to rival the onboard experience - and they do!  On Oahu, guests can visit Pearl Harbor and see the remains of the USS Arizona Memorial.  Or, if surfing is preferred over sightseeing, rent a board and surf the famed North Shore.  Visit pineapple plantations or just relax on the white sand beaches.
On the Big Island of Hawaii, Volcanoes National Park provides incredible sights of 230,000 acres including the world's most active volcano.  Boasting some of the most beautiful and secluded beaches on the island, it's easy to find a private spot to splash in the waves… just follow any unmarked trail.
Kauai delivers breathtaking scenic views and a world of phenomenal sights.  Visit Haena State Park and tour some of Kauai's rugged coastline.  Explore sea caves or hike its popular 11-mile trail.  The majestic Waimea Canyon sprays a rainbow of vibrant colors across what Mark Twain deemed the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific."
A stop in Maui completes your Norwegian Cruise Line voyage. With a very diverse landscape, Maui offers everything from underwater cave exploration to mountain getaways.  Discover snorkeling, whale watching, hiking, aquariums (including the Maui Ocean Center), the Hawaii Humpback Whale Sanctuary and more.
Once back onboard, relax and enjoy Norwegian's Freestyle Dining.  Choose the restaurant (or restaurants) where you wish to dine then make reservations so you know precisely when to arrive.  A succulent meal in one of the 10 restaurants aboard the Pride of Hawaii will be freshly prepared just for you.
Truly a wonder in its style and destination options, Norwegian Cruise Line's Pride of Hawaii is sure to raise the bar to a higher level for luxury cruising.

New York Rivals Florida As Favorite Homeport for Cruise Lines

New York Rivals Florida As Favorite Homeport for Cruise Lines

Coastal Vacations

Word Count:
513
Summary:
With Florida ports becoming overcrowded, many cruise lines are now moving ships up the east coast.  New York is an attractive alternative for cruise lines who are continuing to expand their fleets.

Keywords:
cruise ships, cruise lines, cruise vacations

Article Body:
As one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, New York is a sought after vacation spot in its own right.  In recent years, however, cruise lines have discovered the benefits - for their guests and themselves - of calling New York home.
Norwegian Cruise Line was one of the first cruise lines to temporarily homeport a ship (the Norwegian Dawn) in New York during winter.  According to Andy Stuart, Norwegian Cruise Line's Executive Vice President of Marketing, Sales and Passenger Services, docking in New York started as a result of travel agent requests.  What was then considered a wild card location soon became the permanent residence of the Dawn in 2003.  What has resulted is a small fleet of ships from varying cruise lines that have chosen to move several of their vessels further up the Eastern Seaboard.
The Queen Mary 2 followed suit when it named New York as homeport on April 22, 2004.  This distinctive vessel was received amid a huge fanfare including a Mayoral welcome complete with a U.S. Coastguard and Fire Department of New York escort.  Bands, dignitaries and hordes of people attended the festivities.
Holland America has announced New York to be the homeport of its cruise ship, the Noordam, which will take up residence February 22, 2006.   Norwegian moved the Spirit from Florida to her new home in New York, making a total of two year-round vessels in that port.  Most recently, however, Princess Cruise Line joined the lineup with the positioning of their newest fleet member, Crown Princess, in New York starting June 14, 2006.  But why move?  And why to New York?
Ports in Florida have become almost full while cruise lines are continuing to build ships to add to their fleets.  This supply and demand dilemma has all but forced cruise lines to look for alternative avenues of serving guests while maintaining costs. At the same time, cruise lines need to be able to continue providing viable access for vacationers to the most popular ports of call.  Because of New York's central location and popularity, it offers local attractions equal to or better than those of Florida.  With three airports - JFK, LaGuardia and Newark Liberty International - New York also provides more accessible travel accommodations for those flying in to meet their ship.
Vacationers benefit with exciting pre- or post-cruise holidays in a town that literally offers everything imaginable.  From five-star, celebrity-owned restaurants to entertainment that sets a worldwide standard to a shopping experience unmatched in any other city, New York has a heavy draw with cruisers.  Plus the presence of nearby hotels that fit every budget makes finding and booking accommodations simple.
Cruise lines appreciate the fact that they can now offer departures from a second desirable location.  Plus, because of New York's proximity, cruise lines are still able to offer competitively priced packages to the most popular destinations including the Caribbean and Mexico while, at the same time, offering added flexibility for their guests.
